PROJECT SUMMARY
Action-oriented research provided empirical insights into violence against the elderly in Northern Croatia. The results of the project are strong foundation for the creation of protection measures for this vulnerable group of residents.
PROJECT AIMS
- achieve empirical insights about violence against elderly people in the region of Northern Croatia (Varaždin, Međimurje, Koprivnica-Križevci, Bjelovar-Bilogora and Krapina-Zagorje)
- networking and strengthing key stakeholders for the development of adequate programs and innovative projects for the prevention of violence and assistance to elderly victims of violence
- make an impact on public awareness of the issue, in order to increase sensitivity to the position of the elderly
PROJECT ACTIVITES
- Project team meeting
- Desk research
- Identification of key focus group participants
- Preparation and implementation of focus groups in 5 counties (Varaždin, Međimurje, Koprivnica-Križevci, Bjelovar-Bilogora and Krapina-Zagorje)
- Constructing a questionnaire for conducting in-depth interviews “life stories”
- Identification and training of students for field implementation of in-depth interviews
- Field implementation of research
- Analysis of in-depth interviews
- Creating a publication with the results of the research project
- Organization of the final conference “Challenges of preventing violence against the elderly”
- Dissemination of project results
The project “Action-oriented research on violence against the elderly in Northern Croatia” is implemented with financial support of the Ministry of Demography, Family, Youth and Social Policy.
