Finished projects

Before 2000, CERANEO conducted a series of action-oriented research related to cooperation between cities and associations, promoting the role of the non-profit sector in the provision of social services as well as activities of foundations in Croatia. CERANEO conducted the first study on corporate social responsibility.

CERANEO published:

  • the Gazette Non-profit Sector from 1997 to 2000. CERANEO encouraged networking of organizations by organizing Croatian forums of non-profit / non-governmental organizations from 1997 to 2000.
  • the Bilingual Dictionary of Non-profit Organizations in 1997 (data on 548 organizations)

In partnership with the Croatian Law Center, CERANEO submitted a request by which the Constitutional Court of Croatia abolished 16 provisions of the Law on Associations and participated in the drafting of the Draft Law on Associations.

Good governance and social innovation as a response to new social risks

the documentemphasizes the concept of good governance, that is, openness of the process to all stakeholders: government, citizens, civil society organizations and other stakeholders. It also concentrates on the concept of social innovation in terms of urban management, which should not be an isolated process. Moreover, it is expected to seek new solutions through new processes and working methods that link the city administration with citizens and other key stakeholders.

EVALUATION OF THE CARE PROGRAM FOR HOMELESS PEOPLE, DEVELOPMENT OF INNOVATIVE PREVENTION PROGRAMS AND REDUCING THE RISK OF HOMELESSNESS

through project was created following: a database on homeless, a unique questionnaire for beneficiaries placed in shelters/overnight shelters, an evaluation questionnaire for care providers for the homeless. Activities aimed at the development of social mentoring for the homeless were held. The report “Key trends in the area of homelessness in Croatia” was prepared as a way of presenting the data obtained from the project activities.

the document reflects increasingly unfavorable predictions from the elderly in Croatian demographic structure due to the basic indicators of aging state that population is aging at an accelerated rate. HOW TO GET A JOB FOR HOMELESS? BUILDING THE CAPACITY OF CIVIL SOCIETY ORGANIZATIONS AND SUPPORTING THE INTEGRATION OF THE HOMELESS

the publication “Employing the homeless” was created, which combines the main finding of the educational workshop and focus groups within the project; the educational workshop “How to get a job for homeless” was held in Varaždin, Karlovac and Zagreb, in which representatives of shelters/overnight shelters participated, representatives of the regional branches of the Croatian Employment Service and centers for social welfare, as well as the homeless themselves. Guidelines on inclusion of the homeless in active employment policies were agreed and subsequently adopted by the Croatian Employment Service.

EMPOWERING THE HOMELESS, SUPPORTING EXPERTS AND BUILDING INNOVATIVE MODELS OF CARE FOR THE HOMELESS

the publication “Review of some characteristics and needs of the beneficiaries of eight Croatian shelters and overnight shelters for the homeless in the period from 2017 to 2019” was created. It contains the findings of the research created as part of this three-year program. The publication is informative in nature, but it also points to areas where additional development and expansion of services is needed, as well as the potential direction of future research on this issue; created a shorter documentary report about the homeless “Undocumented”; created photo documentation of hidden places of residence of the homeless; made a documentary report “The street is not home”; organized and conducted the first psychosocial support workshops for shelter managers and experts working with the homeless

ACTION-ORIENTED RESEACRH ON VIOLENCE AGAINST THE ELDERLY IN NORTHERN CROATIA

through action-oriented research empirical insight into violence against the elderly in the region of Northern Croatia was obtained; key stakeholders were networked and strengthened for the development of adequate programs and innovative projects for the prevention of violence and assistance to elderly victims of violence, and an effort was made to sensitize the public about the issue with the aim of increasing the sensibility of the position of the elderly; the publication “Challenges of the prevention of violence against the elderly” was created, presenting the main findings of the project

AND WHERE ARE YOU? REACTIVATION AND REINTEGRATION OF INACTIVE YOUTH IN NEET STATUS

Croatia ranks highest in terms of the proportion of young people in NEET status, according to the latest EUROSTAT data. Most of the time, this group of young people does not learn so-called soft skills from their parents or in school, despite the fact that they are crucial for social inclusion, particularly given the current economic climate.

AN INNOVATIVE MODEL OF SOCIAL INCLUSION OF THE HOMELESS, EMPOWERING EXPERTS AND STRENGTHENING THE CAPACITY OF THE CROATIAN NETWORK FOR THE HOMELESS

A three-year program would empower professionals who work with the homeless and provide psychosocial assistance to those who are homeless or at-risk-of homelessness and to promote better active housing policies in Croatia.

Croatia has limited capacities for monitoring and adapting the development of social policies aimed at an innovative social state that takes into account new social risks and includes civil society organizations.
